Tostadas (Mexican - Appetizer) Recipe

Crispy fried or baked tortillas topped with various ingredients such as refried beans, shredded chicken or beef, lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. They offer a satisfying crunch and a medley of flavors and textures.
Ingredients:
  • Tortillas - 8
  • Vegetable oil - 8 ounces (1 cup)
  • Refried beans - 1 can
  • Shredded chicken or beef - 8 ounces (1 cup)
  • Lettuce - 4 ounces (1 cup)
  • Shredded cheese - 4 ounces (1 cup)
  • Salsa - 8 ounces (1 cup)
  • Sour cream - 4 ounces (1/2 cup)
Instructions
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F or heat the vegetable oil in a medium to large skillet over medium heat.
  • If baking, place tortillas on a baking sheet and bake until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. If frying, cook tortillas in hot oil until crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  • Spread a layer of refried beans on each tortilla.
  • Top with shredded chicken or beef.
  • Add lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious crunch and flavor.
